What can CST help with?

Because it is such a gentle, yet powerful, non-manipulative therapy, it is suitable for everyone. It can, for example, be especially beneficial for newborn babies, pregnant women, those who find mobility challenging and for those who are in discomfort. Craniosacral Therapy is lovely just as a treat to boost your vitality, balance the immune system and give your body deep relaxation. You don't need to have an existing medical condition. Here are some conditions from which people have found relief:

  • Musculoskeletal problems such as sports injuries and frozen shoulder
  • Work-related injuries
  • Sinusitis
  • Rhinitis
  • Chronic back pain/sciatica
  • Middle ear problems/tinnitus
  • Whiplash injuries
  • Visual disturbances
  • Asthma
  • Digestive disorders
  • Headaches/migraines
  • Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • Stress/insomnia/PTSD/exhaustion/depression
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Period pain/menstrual problems
  • Depleted immune system
  • Pregnancy and getting ready for childbirth
  • Post childbirth difficulties
  • Persistent, chronic conditions
  • TMJ problems
  • Pain following dental procedures
  • Learning difficulties
  • Hyperactivity
  • Emotional or behavioural difficulties

For babies:

  • Colic and digestive difficulties
  • Crying all the time/unsettled
  • Sleeping problems
  • Feeding difficulties
  • Torticollis

Your whole body benefits

Craniosacral Therapy stimulates health rather than attacks illness. A Craniosacral therapist works to release blockages to the natural flow of a patient's vitality, so the treatment is therefore deeply therapeutic to the whole system. I may be concentrating on your hip, but the therapy simultaneously works on your whole system. This is why you do not necessarily need a name for what you are suffering from; there may be a real improvement in your presenting symptoms, but also other little niggles (that you did not really know you had until they have gone) may be alleviated. This is also why Craniosacral Therapy is often recommended for babies and toddlers who cannot express what the problem is.

A good night's sleep!

The therapy works with the body's own natural intelligence and increases not just physical vitality and well-being, but also mental and emotional health. People often report that they feel more perky and have got their mojo back, in addition to any relief from other symptoms. Similarly, people often come for Craniosacral treatment just to maintain good health or for the deep relaxation it engenders. Patients often report that they sleep soundly after each treatment.

CST and other treatments

Craniosacral Therapy can be very supportive for patients undergoing conventional treatment, but it is obviously intended to complement rather than replace medical advice and treatment. If you have or suspect you have a health condition, please have a chat with your doctor. Craniosacral Therapy will not do any harm or negate the effectiveness of any conventional or other complementary treatment you may be undergoing.
